"Kathleen's immense knowledge of the human anatomy in regards to the art of singing is quite impressive and helpful, and her kind and encouraging way with me as a student made me feel more comfortable to step farther and farther out of my comfort zone. Her expertise in her craft and her natural way of teaching made for a wonderful experience in the classroom. I could not recommend a more qualified and effective vocal teacher." - Maggie O'Connor (O'Connor Family Band)
- VOICE STUDIO -
- Voice lessons for adults and children ages 10 and up.
- General music lessons for children under age 10.*
*(Voice instruction for children begins at the onset of puberty, when the vocal mechanism has reached full growth and maturity. Formal voice lessons may begin from age 10 onward. Children younger than the age of 10 are enthusiastically encouraged to participate in general music classes and piano lessons.)
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe that anyone can sing. If a person is considered "tone deaf", but they have full use and function of their hearing and voice, they merely lack the cultivation of strength and dexterity in the muscles necessary for singing. Once those muscles are strengthened, the refining of the singing voice can begin. I enjoy teaching people who have no musical background just as much as students who are pursuing music as a career. I am rewarded by my students' discovery and nurturing of their own unique and beautiful voices!
I believe that classical training in singing is an important foundation for anyone pursuing a career in music, no matter the genre. I emphasize a strong focus on technique and healthy sound production, so that my students may learn how best to protect and care for their instruments. I aim to provide a safe and comfortable environment for my students, and work hard to create a relationship of mutual trust and respect.
